After the inconclusive March 2008 election had plunged the nation into a crisis followed by a sham election run-off where Zanu PF unleashed terror to the electorate, these sad political development required a political party that would stand in the gap between the political extremes of both Zanu PF and MDC-T.
Our party armed with its undiluted commitment for the restoration of democracy and economy played a pivotal role to bring the two parties to a negotiating table from which the Global Political Agreement was written which later gave birth to the Government of National Unity.
The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) is a social democratic party. We believe in the principle that all people are equal and that we should build a society where everyone has the chance to reach their potential.
The MDC is the only social democratic party in Zimbabwe that upholds a clear set of principles.
